Our Engagement & Holiday To Skiathos

6:50 pm

Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while, I've been away on holiday to Skiathos in Greece and I also got engaged!

Jamie's proposal could not have been any more perfect. At night time, up in the hills, overlooking the sea and the incredible surroundings. He just dropped down on one knee, held out the ring to me and said, "Will you marry me?" I didn't even think twice, of course I said yes! I can't believe I'm going to marry my best friend, and the man who has loved me since I was 15 years old.

He proposed on the first night of our holiday, which meant that we could enjoy the whole holiday as a newly engaged couple! We have had so many people send us messages, coming up to us and congratulating us, buying us cards etc. it's been so overwhelming, I  still can't really believe it.

We are both also so pleased that we managed to get the special moment captured on camera!

We had the most incredible holiday, we stayed at the Filia Studios & Apartments in Troulos, which is where we stayed last year. The rooms are basic, but still really lovely and have everything you could possibly need. The people who work there are some of the friendliest, nicest people I have ever met! This was my second time visiting, and it must be Jamie's 7th or 8th time, so we both had a really good bond with the staff and the owners, which is really great as it makes you feel completely at home.

This place is great for first-time visitors, but it is also a place where people come back year after year, so we met up with a few couples who were there last year. It's really nice to see familiar faces and we've made some lifelong friends.

Me and my fiance by the pool!
We really enjoyed lounging around the pool on the sunbeds, the whole area is really clean, tidy and well-kept and there are plenty of sunbeds, so you don't have to get up early to reserve your sunbed. It has a bar/restaurant which sells many drinks, cocktails and delicious homemade Greek food.

Troulos has many restaurants and tavernas which are all within walking distance of where we stayed. It was nice to go out for a meal and then on the way back home stop off at all the tavernas and try out different drinks.

The view from our balcony.
The view from our balcony was breathtaking, the photo doesn't even really do it any justice. Waking up to this view was one of my favourite parts of this holiday. When the sun had set, we enjoyed sitting on the balcony, wrapped up in blanket with a drink in our hand, admiring the night time view.

You can get a bus from where we stayed into Skiathos Town, which only costs €4 for the both of us. Yet again, Skiathos Town has many places to eat and drink and has a huge harbour, which is really nice to walk around and look at all the boats and yachts. There are also loads of boats you can have day trips on and visit other beaches on the island which are only accessible by boat. We unfortunately didn't manage to go on a boat trip this time as the day we booked to go we had bad weather! Skiathos Town also has loads of cobbled back streets with lots of lovely gift shops and restaurants.

Greek BBQ Night at Filia Studios
At Filia Studios they host a Greek BBQ Night, where all the guests sit together, enjoying traditonal Greek food and also take part in doing Greek dancing! It's such good fun and a really nice way to meet new people and catch up with friends.

I'm getting serious holiday blues writing this blog post, boo! But anyway, I've wrote a full review of the place we stayed on Trip Advisor, so if you would like to give that a little read, you can do so here.

I'd definitely recommend visiting Skiathos if you ever get the chance, such a gorgeous place, with beautiful food and the friendliest people I have ever met. My favourite place on Earth.
